We now run 3 courses in partnership with Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Community College.
Fundamentals is a course for beginners and introduces leadlight and copper foil construction.
Learn the basic techniques of stained glass and copper foil. In
this course you will build both a simple leadlight panel and a
piece of three dimensional copper foil work. This course
focuses on introducing you to the process involved in the
construction of each craft. You will also get an introduction to
basic OH&S, tools and materials. No prior knowledge or skills
are required.
There is no need to purchase any tools to give this course a go.
All you need is a pair of flat, closed toe shoes. If you’ve ever
thought about building your own stained glass panel this is the
easiest, no strings attached way to jump in with both boots! A
materials fee of $50 will be collected by the tutor on the first
night.
Refine your Technique is for those already familar with leadlighting or copperfoil who want the opportunity to develop and improve their skills undertaking projects of personal interest.
In this intermediate level course you will choose to undertake a
project of your own choice in either Stained Glass (leadlight) or
Copper foil. Working on a project of personal interest you will
advance your technical skills and knowledge of either stained
glass or copper foil under close tutelage of one of the industries
most respected Master craftsman. A selection of projects will
be available for you to choose from on the first night. If you
already have a project in mind you should consult with the tutor
before enrolment. For returning students who want to move on
to entirely individual projects, such as an intended project for
your home, we strongly recommend attending the one day
course in Stained Glass design. To undertake this course it is
assumed that you have previously done a beginners course
and are able and confident in cutting basic shapes in glass.
Stained Glass Design is a 1 day intensive to bring critical knowledge and practical design foundation skills to hobbyists.
The course is intended to facilitate hobbyists to undertake
personal projects of their own design. This course transitions
individuals re-enrolling in “Refining Technique (Stained Glass)”
from structured projects to individual projects entirely of their
own design. In this course you will:
• Be introduced to relevant architectural and stained glass
genres and trends.
• Be introduced to relevant building codes and legislative
concerns.
• Through three technical drawing exercises participants will
learn:
• How to “measure up” and translate that effectively to
designs.
• Drafting panel designs incorporating basic matrixes.
• Application of complex design in glass
